DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE SAFETY PROTOCOLS THAT HAVE BEEN INITIATED BY THE PROBATE COURTS AND IN CONSIDERATION OF THE PUBLIC AT LARGE, ALL NON ESSENTIAL AND NON EMERGENCY IN-PERSON HEARINGS IN HARRIS COUNTY PROBATE COURT 2 WILL BE HANDLED REMOTELY VIA ZOOM.COM.  ESSENTIAL IN-PERSON HEARINGS WILL BE CONSIDERED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Probate Court 2 is accepting unsworn declarations in lieu of notarized signatures for the following documents: Oaths of Executors; Oaths of Administrators; Proof Of Death and Other Facts; Witness statements for Estates; Witness statements for Heirships; Inventories, Annual Reports and Annual Accounts.

Probate Court No. 2 will be conducting bench trials remotely via zoom.  Please note that due to the resurgence of Covid-19, Jury Trials scheduled through February 28, 2022  have been cancelled.  If you prefer to keep your current trial setting, the court is willing to conduct a bench trial, if the lawyers are willing to waive their jury request. Please note that the court is not resetting jury trials until next year.  Should you have any questions, please contact Yolanda Lopez .

For Probate of Will or Heirship, please call the court at 832-927-1402.  

For Guardianship, please e-mail Coleton Mayo, Guardianship Coordinator/Staff Attorney. 

For Ancillary or special settings, please e-mail Yolanda Lopez, Court Coordinator.  

Docket Schedule :

Probate: 
Tuesday at 8:00 am; Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. (new-effective 1/12/22) or 1:30 p.m.

 

 

Heirship:
Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. or 3:00 p.m.

​Guardianship:
Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
 

​Scheduling Conferences:
Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

Ancillary Docket:
Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.​ 
 or Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. (for hearings requiring more than 20 minutes).

Please request a special setting for hearings requiring more than one hour.

 

Pre-Trial and Status Conferences:
​Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

Show Cause Docket:

Submission Docket:
2nd & 4th Monday  at 9:00 a.m. This date shall be at least 10 days from filing of notice, except on leave of court. 

Due to Covid-19, Judge Newman will NOT hold Probate of Will Dockets at any Courthouse Annexes until further notice.

Notice: Please refer to the County Clerk's Office Probate page for signed orders.  County Clerk's Forms for forms such as Inventory, Annual Report, Annual Account, Appointee Compensation, Small Estate, Testimony, Oath, etc.  Probate Court Settings for Docket Settings. 

ALL DOCUMENTS ALONG WITH EXHIBITS SHOULD BE E-FILED AS "ONE LEAD DOCUMENT".  
PROPOSED ORDERS SHOULD BE FILED AS A SEPARATE "LEAD DOCUMENT".
